My name is Prajakta Mahajan. I am a mom from Pune. I am an IT professional who has worked in the US and in India for 17 years. Working in the IT sector in India has become synonymous with extended working hours, evening client calls and less family time and so finally, I quit my job in 2010 and started working on part-time small assignments. With some extra time at hand, I get to work on this site for free quality education which has always been the area of my interest. In urban India, schools have become lucrative proprietary businesses. People who afford high fees send their children to such schools. These schools provide all the good facilities like bus transport, meals, playgrounds, swimming pool and spacious classrooms. The infrastructure and facilities are great – but what about the content? Quality education is still a big challenge! For those who do not afford high fees and those who are from rural areas; they lose on all the fronts – infrastructure as well as the content! Then there is another institution called “tuition classes”. The middle class pays high fees to enrol their kids to such classes for better education and the lower middle class and the poor struggle to find affordable tuition classes. We talk about “empowering through education”. However, affordable quality education still looks like a distant dream. This site is my attempt to address this issue at an individual level. Please feel free to download any of the videos (the size is intentionally small) and distribute it in any manner like CD’s or flash drives so that those who do not have internet connection can also access it. I have started this site for Mathematics because it is supposed to be the most commonly dreaded subject and a big bottleneck in continuing education. Language should not be a barrier in learning and so I’ll try to make the videos available in Indian languages as far as possible. |
